Steam also doesn't necessarily mean it's available for Mac. Steam actually encourages game developers to make versions for Linux, but generally from what I've seen developers try to make them in the order of Windows first, then Mac, then Linux. All three are different from each other. Linux is probably the best for gaming, which is why Steam OS is generally a Linux distributive, as it allows the applications to work closer to the hardware than Windows, but it does have significantly less supported content (because it's far less common) compared to Windows. But there are plenty of games on Steam only available to Windows. A game being available on Steam DOES NOT guarantee it is available for all platforms. Hell, it'll even keep you from launching games meant for older versions of Windows.

It spat at me, 'You do not have a compatible platform for this game' when I tried to install GTA: San Andreas on my copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. It's always, always, always up to the developer to create versions (or, in some instances, ports) of the game for its different clients. Steam just takes care of the download management, the client-side transactions, and connecting the users together (in some cases, such as Team Fortress 2) or syncing save files to the Steam Cloud (like XCOM). Obsidian, being a large development company and using a powerful, reputable game engine (Cry Engine, either 3 or 4), could possible make a version for Mac. Except for one thing - so far as I know, the Cry Engine doesn't natively support Mac OS. For example, I read on some forums from 2012 that Cry Engine didn't support Mac OS.

Also, one of Cry Engine's primary titles published by Crytek (the maker of Cry Engine, in case you haven't caught on), Crysis 3, doesn't support Mac. To me, that says that it will be difficult for Obsidian, who didn't create the game engine that Armored Warfare uses, to make a version for Mac. They could get around Cry Engine for other platforms by transferring the game to something like the Unreal engine, which does support Mac, but that might be even harder than adapting and rewriting the Cry Engine. We shall see how well Armored Warfare performs, though. If it's popular enough, Obsidian might just try to make it happen. I really hope they do make it available for Mac.

I hate using Bootcamp or Parallels since they are both such resource hogsI wouldn't give up on your Mac, have a technician look at it or try to upgrade. Never use Parallels to run a game - it's fine for a few programs but sucks at anything that needs rendering - like games. I'm lucky and have a maxed out 27' iMac running Bootcamp - have no problems at all. WoT runs for example with all graphics on maximum at a steady 60fps. In fact I don't remember any games giving me a headache.

Tip: Run Windows 7 - 8 is a pig. Hope that helps and happy Mac gaming.
